Coach LaBrie has been diagnosed with cancer and has a quite a journey ahead of her.  It is time to show our support!  There will be a volleyball tournament  at the Hampton Auditorium on Saturday, March 16th to help raise money.  The men’s alumni BB tournament will be going on at the high school gym.  All alumni, alumni wives, alumni Moms, friends and family are invited to attend.  There will be a free will donation set up the day of the tournament.  Let’s join together and MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!  *******************************************************************************************************

For the 56th year, the Adams County Medical Alliance and the Medical society will co-sponsor the “So You’re Growing Up” series for students and their parents. All sessions of the program will be held at the Hastings Public Library starting at 7pm.  A parent or both parents are encouraged to accompany their child.  Sessions are available for girls in 3rd & 4th grades, girls in 5th & 6th grades, and 5th & 6th grade boys.  For more information please call Chris Santos-Brosnihan, Coordinator at 402-463-0086.

The York Pioneer Research Center is looking for hard-working, fun-loving individuals to help them pollinate this summer.  Starting wage is $8.75 and all applicants must be 14 years or older by July 2013. The Hamilton County Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, February 13th.  Results are as follows:  6th Grade - Ian Raric, First place, 7th Grade - Noelle Rust, 4th place, 8th Grade - Christian Deepe, 2nd place, Dante Farris - 3rd place.  The County Champion was: Christian Deepe, First place, and Ian Raric - Runner-up!!  Christian Deepe also received an award for competing and placing all four years!!!  Congratulations to our Hampton Public students!!  You represented us well!!! *******************************************************************************************************
The NCA State Cheer Competition will be held Friday, February 15th, at the Heartland Event Center in Grand Island.  The Hampton Cheer team will perform dance at 6:15pm and cheer at 7:30pm. (The competition does tend to run ahead of schedule).  Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for student K-12.  The Hampton cheerleaders would appreciate your support!!

The Summer Recreation Committee will have a meeting on Sunday, February 17, at 5pm at the lumber yard building.  Last year’s softball and baseball coaches and all interested patrons are encouraged to attend.  They will be discussing the summer ball program and fund-raising ideas.

The Exeter/Milligan Music Program will be holding a Soup and Sandwich Supper on Friday, February 1st during the Hampton/Exeter/Milligan BB games.  They will be serving at the Exeter site cafeteria from 5-7:30pm.  The cost is $5 for Adults and 7-12 students and $4 for K-6 students.

Junior Hoops is a basketball development program for area youth age five through sixth grade.  The program emphasizes skill development and fun!  Junior Hoops will be held at the Hampton City Auditorium beginning February 11 and going through the end of March.  Age specific sessions are as follows: Age 5 - Second Grade: Mondays 5:30 - 6:30pm, Third Grade - Sixth Grade: Mondays 6:45-8:00pm.  The cost of participation is $15 per child.  Forms were sent home with elementary students last Thursday.  Please complete forms and return with payment by February 4th to: Junior Hoops, ℅ Dennis Ferguson, 1202 S V Road, Hampton, NE 68843.  Please do not return forms to school.  If you have any questions, please contact Dennis Ferguson at 402.694.1133 or Matt Arndt at 402.631.1207.

On February 5, Students in grades 6-8 will be attending an anti-bullying and sportsmanship assembly at Waverly High School. The Nebraska Sports Hall of Fame Foundation and UNL are sponsoring the assembly. The featured speaker at the assembly will be Dr. Tom Osborne along with other student-athletes from  UNL. Students will be leaving Hampton at 8:15 and will return around 1PM.

On Tuesday, February 5th, in between the girl’s and boy’s Varsity BB games our annual “Parent’s Nightwill be held.   Students participating in Football, Cheerleading, Quiz Bowl, One-Act Play, VB, BB, FFA, Band, Choir, and Speech in grades 9 thru 12 and their parents will be recognized.  Parents will be admitted free to the game.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held Wednesday, February 6, from 6 - 8:30pm.  All K-6 parents will have a scheduled time with their son & daughter’s classroom teacher.  The schedule of conference times was sent home last week with elementary students.  7-12 parents should check into the high school office to receive a progress report for your son or daughter.  All 7-12 teachers will be located in the high school gym for conferences.  Conferences are a valuable opportunity for parents to participate in their child/children’s education experience. We hope to see you on the 6th!!
